Obama

I saw Obama talk today. My adult experiences with past Presidents has made me so cynical that I don't want to like him. I'm pretty sure that I'll end up disappointed. Despite myself, it was exciting to see our future President.

And I've always wanted a picture of me with the president.

His talk was short and sweet, maybe because he's exhausted. He spoke well of Clinton and condemned the war. He said he'd push for education. Free college for people who will go do a year or two of civil service work post-graduation. Health care and housing for all. Ok. I'm sold. I like to think that kid is whispering something insightful and profound to his dad but I suspect he had to pee.

It must have been a good day to be out listening to a speech. I have to confess, though, I don't really like any of them, other than Kucinich, who dropped out...

Last night I pre-ordered my copy of Postage Stamp Funnies, but I'm sad to have to wait so long to get them.

I was lucky to score a spot under the tree. People in the sun must have fried.

Thank you for ordering a PSF book set. I'll set you up with a dirty book soon as I see you (if you want one).

You got a lot closer than I did! My view was entirely blocked by that tree.

I think the folks in boats had the right idea.

Nah. Those boat people were annoying. I liked being in the crowd and talking to people even if I did have to fight the urge to scream and run away (claustrophobia).

I actually think he might have a chance. (I just posted about this)- Nobody is psyched for MacCain-the people who are behind him are just like "eh, he's the republican, I have to vote for him." Wheras the people who are behind Obama really fucking want him to win-(except me, I'm just like "eh, he's the democrat, I have to vote for him.")

There are probably like 4 people who are genuinely excited at the prospect of him being president.I suspect most of the people voting for him will be voting anti-democrat, not pro-Mccain.

He seems to have a good chance. I am excited by the prospect of him being president though I should know better. I like him.

Well don't feel bad about it.

Honestly, anyone who gets to his level is probably a shitbag, but he is definately the least shitty of anyone I've seen in a long time.

Even Bill Clinton, who I liked, had a list of faults and skeletons in his closet as long as your arm.

I don't think anything really bad on Obama is coming along anytime soon.

I hope you're right. I'm sure they're looking - and they're saving the worst till Nov.

Considering that so far the only things they've come up with are "his middle name is a common Islamic last name" and "his pastor has been known to say some seemingly-nutty things," I don't think they're really sitting on anything catastrophic.

I hope you're right. Usually there's some sort of November Surprise.

Like John McCain, he has had children with a black woman.

As much as I would like to see someone relatively fresh-faced and lacking a history of having been tortured assume the presidency, I've found myself left with no faith in the American voting public. McCain is going to win and I am going to want to kill something when he does.

McCAIN can only win if we enABLE him. Like the Patti Smith song goes, "People have the power."

I met Obama early on in Iowa and he actually made me feel like CHANGE was a possibility. I think that's why he has been given the once over twice.

i could hear the echo of the speech from my place on the e. side... i had to pick someone up at the train station @ 3 and saw the crowd when i drove over the bridge... i read initial reports that say there were between 75,000 and 100,000 people there... funny that cnn is reporting 50,000... propaganda in action!

I was happy to get an email from Amazon that the stuff I order along with the Postage Stamp Funnies was finally being shipped.

...alas, it is not time for the Postage Stamp Funnies to be released yet. =[

Lol, I didn't even know this was going on, and I had to navigate through a wall of people several blocks long when I got off the bus downtown.
